Curriculum Vitae

Son Truong Pham, B.Tech. (Hons), Ph.D., M.D., is currently an FRACGP / FARGP (proceduralist) registrar and Medical Officer at NSW Health. Dr. Pham completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of New South Wales in 2012. He was conferred a Doctor of Medicine by the Sydney Medical School in 2018, with electives at Weill Cornell University / New York Presbyterian Hospital (USA) focusing on advanced obstetrics and urology. He subsequently attained his general medical registration in 2020 after completing his internship at various hospitals within the Western Sydney Local Health District, including Westmead, Auburn, Cumberland, and Westmead Children’s Hospitals in 2019.

Dr. Pham has received several prestigious awards and research grants, including the UNSW International Postgraduate Award, the John Flynn Clinical Scholarship, and the Australian Award (Endeavour Mobility Scholarship). Before becoming a medical doctor, he was an Alfred Deakin Research Fellow (2012-2014) and a recipient of the Millis-Colwell American Society of Microbiology Young Researcher Award. He has over 10 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at more than 20 domestic and international conferences.

Dr. Pham is an accredited ALS / APLS provider and a member of the Westmead Red Resident Program and the Westmead Hospital Quality Improvement Committee. He is actively involved in mentoring medical students and interns and is working towards becoming an ALS instructor. He has a strong commitment to lifelong education and professional development in general practice, with a focus on pediatrics, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine.

Dr. Pham obtained the Diploma in Child Health Program (SCHP) in 2020, Certificates in Advanced Paediatric Life Support, ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate, Emergency Trauma Management (ETM) in 2021, Point of Care Ultrasound certificate, and FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive & Sexual Health in 2022. He successfully completed the ACEM Emergency Medicine Diploma in 2023. He is currently working towards completing the FRACGP / FARGP program and the Australasian College of Dermatologists Diploma in Advanced Dermatology and Skin Cancers.
